Hi Bob and Eddy,

Just wanted to tell everyone out there how wonderful your candles are. The fragrances are just as good, if not better, than Yankee. I use a lot of candles, mostly tea lites, and I found Oregon Street Candles to be of superb quality. I just placed my third order in less than a year. I used to be a staunch Yankee Candle ’burner’….Not any more. Oregon Street is my candle of choice now. Try them folks, you won’t be disappointed……….

Eddy,
I’m glad you posted this because I didn’t know what they were either. All I have to do is the marketing but you have to know all about the fragrances and the top notes and middle notes and bottom notes, but what about the accord? These things sound like musical notes so why don’t they call it just a “chord” like in music?
Anyway I am glad you are there to do all the hard work of knowing all these technical things and how to mix up fragrances and different colors which all go into the candle making process.
And then you make the candles too.

Ever wonder what those detailed fragrance descriptions actually mean? What exactly is a top note, middle note and an accord? Here are a few definitions that might be helpful.

What is a Top Note?

This is the part of the fragrance that is created to attract you. It’s the first impression when you smell the fragrance for the first time at the opening of the bottle. The top note doesn’t last long.

What is a Middle Note?

This is the heart of the fragrance. The character and personality of the fragrance. It follows the top note and brings the accord of the fragrance. The accord being the part of a fragrance that makes it different from the other fragrances. Usually made by a fine blend of several specific raw materials.

What is a Bottom Note?

This is the part of the fragrance that determines the longevity of the blend. It is responsible for the lasting effect.

What is an Accord?

The accord of a fragrance is the characteristic smell that makes it recognizable and different. A well-balanced blend of a few raw materials, natural or synthetic, that acts like a logo or signature. You always remember it!

Can you get your favorite fragrance anymore?

What about Yankee Candle Co who has made some of the most famous fragrances in the candle business. They have discontinued some of their most popular it seems.

Lets talk about one, Hearts and Flowers. We have it with this discription “Hearts and Flowers (type)* smells just like the popular Yankee candle fragrance. One of our customers said she could not tell the difference.

We have quite a few of the fragrances that are a (type) which means they are a copy or reasonable facsimile of the original. Any of the originals that we have a type of are trade marked by that particular company. Go to our scents page to look at all our fragrances, over 150 of them.
